Director's Statement
Defending the environment is one of the deadliest jobs in Latin America. Given our insatiable need for growth, the natural spaces that give us water, oxygen and a stable climate are constantly in danger of disappearing. The Reserve is a thriller based on the testimonies of environmental defenders that tells the story of a woman determined to defend a place she loves. Shot with natural actors in a rural community in Chiapas, the film takes place in a context where a real battle for conservation is fought everyday.
