Director's Statement

By 2023, population displacement in Latin America have reached record numbers. Caravans and odysseys on foot are becoming more and more common, as people try to find that ideal place to start from scratch. With An Island, we explore this scenario through a playful perspective, highlighting parent’s ingenuity and resiliency, where amidst uncertainty, they create an optimistic atmosphere for her daughter to escape into fantasy on the journey towards an island of possibilities. Our intention is to do our bit, seeking to promote the inclusion of displaced people in need, through a message of tolerance, solidarity and hope. — Ricardo Muñoz Senior
