Liza Surganova, Head of Alternativa; Avital Lavi, Head of Alternativa Distribution; Maria Shilova, Licensing Manager; and Andjelka Jankovic, Head of Marketing and Communications will be in Cape Town, South Africa, from October 27 to 30 for FAME Week Africa 2026, our industry partner on the African continent.
FAME Week Africa brings together African and international creative professionals across film, television, animation, music, and tech. Its programme of conferences, screenings, showcases, and networking events includes MIP Africa and the FAME Shorts Film Festival.
The Distribution team will focus on MIP Africa, the dynamic content market, taking place October 28–30. There, they will explore new partnerships and opportunities for impact-driven films. This continues Alternativa Distribution work to bring socially meaningful stories from the Global South to audiences worldwide.
At the FAME Shorts Film Festival, dedicated to short films from Africa and its diaspora, the team will announce the Open Call for the 4th Alternativa Film Festival, set in Africa in late 2027. During FAME Week Africa, both teams will work to build new connections and discover new voices and talent on the continent, our current focus region.
