Our Selection Committee — a group of outstanding curators, programmers, and impact experts from Latin America, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and beyond — has already begun working on the festival’s lineup, evaluating submissions for both artistic excellence and impact. The Competition Program of AFF 2026 will be announced at the end of February 2026.

Ignacio Catoggio (Argentina)

Films are my friends. Being part of the AFF Selection Committee allowed me to meet many new friends — different friends: friends who shout and others who whisper, strange friends, beautiful friends. Friends who provoke me, infuriate me, make me laugh, but above all, they make me reflect and move me. I am surprised and moved by the voices offered by audiovisual production in our region.

Sharofat Arabova (Tajikistan)

I’m very happy to once again be part of the Selection Committee of the AFF, which has become especially close to my heart — thanks to its team, its mission, and its films from so many different countries and now even continents, each with its unique cultural context. What unites all these works is a shared message — about the value of human life and human rights. The selection process is in full swing, and it’s already clear that the final choice won’t be easy.

Rajan Kathet (Nepal)

I’m delighted to return to the Alternativa Film Festival for my second year on the Selection Committee. The process has already begun, and it’s exciting to see so many fresh perspectives alongside this year’s festival favorites. As before, selecting the finalists won’t be easy- there’s an impressive wave of new filmmakers whose remarkable work is matching, and at times surpassing, that of well-known regional directors.
