Alternativa’s social media work supports and promotes powerful stories from the Global South, helping to drive meaningful social change through the power of cinema. Our channels include multiple Instagram accounts (global and regional), alongside other major platforms. We aim to grow engaged communities, support our festival, labs, and distribution initiatives, and make stories that matter visible. The Social Media Manager will play a hands-on role in content creation and daily channel management, bringing strong storytelling skills and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
What you’ll do
● Create, localize, and manage engaging content across social platforms
● Cover events and support live posting during festivals, labs, and public programs
● Collaborate with creators, influencers, media, and filmmakers under campaign guidance
● Support regional communication campaigns and partnerships
● Track daily analytics and help optimize content performance
Who we’re looking for
● 2+ years of experience in social media or content marketing (experience with events or film festivals is a strong plus)
● Strong focus on content creation and storytelling
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
● Interest in film, culture, and impact-driven projects
● Basic understanding of analytics and performance metrics
● English: full professional proficiency
This is a remote position with a flexible schedule for candidates available to work in European time zones. Workload and compensation will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
