The nomadic Alternativa project, formerly known as the Alternativa Film Awards, is now officially the Alternativa Film Festival, reflecting its growing scope and commitment to connecting impactful cinema with broader audiences. The 2026 edition will be set in Latin America.

Directed by Subina Shrestha, Devi (2024) is a powerful Nepalese documentary about activist Devi Khadka, who fights for justice for women affected by wartime sexual violence. Alternativa supports the theatrical release of the film in Nepal this May to help amplify Devi's campaign for recognition, healing, and solidarity.
