In Kabul during the tense summer of 2021, right before the Taliban's return, 25-year-old Naru works as a camera operator for a television cooking show. She has grown deeply cynical toward men after her husband repeatedly cheated on her and threw her out. Now living with her parents and her three-year-old son in a cramped, single-room apartment, she is locked in a fierce legal battle to keep custody of her child under restrictive local laws. Her life shifts dramatically when her ex-husband makes a humiliating phone call to her live broadcast, sparking a workplace transfer to the hard news division. There, she is paired with Qodrat, a prominent 50-year-old married journalist and one of the final voices of independent media. As the two move through the city to document Kabul's final days of freedom under an unraveling state of emergency, an intense romance develops between them.
