How can a film do more than simply reach audiences — how can it spark conversations, mobilize communities, and drive real change? That’s exactly what our Impact Distribution Lab, organized with the support of inDrive, is all about. In the Lab, participants will work in teams to master the art of impact distribution — learning how to strategically release and promote socially engaged films so they reach the right people, in the right place, at the right time.

Alternativa Film Labs Participant. Development Lab in Uzbekistan, 2024.
The Lab will be led by world-class mentors: Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker and impact producer Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala (Philippines) and Gita Saedi Kiely (USA), former director of FilmAid International, development professional and non-profit leader. Together with other tutors, they’ll guide participants in building powerful impact distribution campaigns, engaging communities, partnering with NGOs and businesses, organizing screenings and discussions, and attracting media attention and funding.
The program kicks off on November 3 with lectures and masterclasses, then moves into a hands-on module where teams will develop ready-to-launch strategies. In January, they’ll pitch their plans to an international jury, with 3–5 projects receiving support to bring their ideas to life.
The Lab is open to citizens and residents of all Central Asian countries. Participation is completely free and fully online. Find more information about the program, eligibility and how to apply on the Lab page.
