Each time Alternativa enters a new region, we create a space to speak directly with its people, in a way that reflects their voices and stories. Africa is Alternativa’s focus region for 2026–2027, and the continent will host the fourth Alternativa Film Festival at the end of 2027. So we’ve launched a dedicated Instagram account for Africa!
It is our fifth Instagram account, joining our global account and regional accounts for Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. The new account will be the go-to source for festival news and updates, as well as inspiring stories from Africa.
Through this account, we hope to build lasting relationships with filmmakers, creative communities, and impact leaders across the continent. Our goal is to open new connections, amplify local talent, and grow the network of people who believe in the power of cinema to inspire social change. We see this as the beginning of a long-term conversation, and we can’t wait to hear the stories Africa has to tell.
