The newest addition to our Advisory Board, Marcela Lizcano is a Colombian filmmaker and impact strategist with a deep commitment to territorial cinema and its transformative power. In 2014, she founded Viceversa Cine, an audiovisual production company specializing in creative documentaries and artistic collaborations. Through Viceversa, she develops auteur-driven films and international co-productions.

Marcela's feature-length documentary debut, Isolated (2015), screened at more than 30 festivals worldwide and received the Best Documentary Award at Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de México, Colombia Film Festival New York, and Festival Internacional de Cine de Barranquilla. With Viceversa, Marcela produced the feature documentary Suspension (2020) by Simón Uribe, which premiered at IDFA, and A Loss Of Something Ever Felt (2020) by Carlos Lesmes, which premiered at Hot Docs.

Joining the Alternativa Advisory Board is an opportunity to bring a Latin American perspective — shaped by territorial work in cinema and impact — into dialogue with the diverse intercultural experiences represented on the board. I am inspired to be part of an initiative that will come to Colombia with its festival in 2026, reaffirming cinema’s role as a powerful tool for social and cultural transformation, and opening space for meaningful conversations, reflection, and learning across the region.

Marcela also leads NODO SUR, an organization dedicated to strengthening the Latin American network at the intersection of film, art, and social impact — and a partner of Alternativa. We are confident that Marcela’s vision and experience will bring warmth, depth, and valuable perspective to Alternativa’s growing community, reinforcing our shared belief in cinema as a force for connection and change.
