For the first time in its history, Alternativa Film Festival commissioned its official key visual through an Open Call to local artists. The initiative attracted 244 submissions from Colombian artists and collectives, with seven projects shortlisted during the evaluation process before the final selection was made.
Created by Bogotá-based artist Nicolás Fonseca, whose practice explores the intersection of memory and technology, “Eternal Spring” presents a striking visual statement inspired by digital collage and minimalist aesthetics. Featuring a rich variety of flowers woven throughout the composition, the artwork reflects Medellín’s vibrant spirit as the City of Eternal Spring while symbolizing Alternativa’s mission to help impact-driven talents from the Global South thrive on the global stage. Through its layered composition and interplay of perspectives, the image also echoes the festival’s commitment to cinema that reveals new ways of seeing—inviting audiences to discover fresh perspectives, diverse voices, and transformative stories from around the world.
The visual will be featured across the festival’s print and digital communications, and as part of the open call, the winning artist will receive a prize of USD 1,000.

To think of collage is to think of diversity, of multiple forms of beauty, of multiple ways of creating, and of how no artwork is ever truly finished.
